Truth and Consequences

There once was a church that kept meeting;
And a few who attended soon died.
For in the midst of a plague, they assembled;
Their motive not God’s love but pride.

If God’s love was their highest intention,
Then all would have worn a mask
And kept certain distance between them,
Even if nobody asked!

But they chose to listen to liars
Of a certian political bent;
Instead of Jesus of Nazareth
They followed a flawed President.

Who convinced them that masks were un-needed
And un-Republican too!
They breathed death upon many in the Holy Name
Of a God they never knew.

And though Judgement Day quickly approached;
While flaunting their freedoms and rights,
Unnoticed, the Almighty drew near to them,
Just like a thief draws near in the night.
