It Is Written

what paltry gain:
to win by injustice
only an earthly advantage!

oh the benefits
of all transgression
are tenuous and fleeting indeed;

though the spoils may last a lifetime
or endure for mere moments –
the outcome is the same:

the seeds of our destruction,
once planted in the soul,
are not diminished by death

but survive into another age
where their fruit will rightly be
adjudged as folly;

where unworthy, the unwilling
reapers one day will stand,
pleading for mercy none deserves,

yet all will one day find –
finally entering through the fiery trials
and troubles of one age or another into

the everlasting Kingdom of Heaven,
only through God Almighty’s grace!
tasting, savoring there the sweet and most merciful

of pardons, purchased by the aweful
sacrifice of faultless,
Holy blood.
